Keith Hope is a 6th generation Floridian. In 1835, his Hope family moved from Georgia to what’s now Brooksville, Florida – the first European settlers in that area. Five generations later, he was born in Tampa but soon moved to Boynton Beach for four years and weathered 5 hurricanes; there would many more including Donna, Andrew, and Charlie. His family moved to Wauchula, Florida, where he grew up in a small rural town and graduated from high school. He started performing music in public at age 5 and has never stopped. He performed in several folk groups, the high school glee club, and in his high school and college rock bands.
After high school he graduated from the University of Florida and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Signal Corp. He spent three years in Germany where he became a Captain but was never sent to Viet Nam. After the army, Keith traveled widely for a year in Europe and Turkey before returning to Florida to attend law school. He practiced law for six years before moving to Nashville for four years learning to be a song writer. He then traveled to Alaska – 28 times, and to Asia, Australia and New Zealand for a year and a half. When he returned to Florida, he started practicing law again and still is in Tallahassee, Florida.
Keith attended the Florida Folk Festival where he was encouraged by his soon – to – be mentor Frank Thomas to write songs about Florida. He did and released his first cd, Key Biscayne Cowboy. Later, he released his second cd, Florida Hurricane. See Cds and Songs Tab. He has performed with his group Keith Hope & Charlie Creek, and solo for many years at the Florida Folk Festival, the Will McLean Festival, the South Florida Folk Festival and music venues in Florida.
Keith’s passions have always been friends and family, music, travel and photography. He has also traveled to Colombia, Costa Rica and Panama and will be traveling to Viet Nam in 2025. Today he continues to write songs about Florida and other subjects. Pictures and videos of his adventures are found under the Tab Pictures and Videos and will be added to.
